I Wonder . . .

. . . if I'll begin blogging again? I come and visit from time to time to see if I will be inspired to add some prose or thoughts or ramble on. But nothing comes and so I click back to the news or my email or whatever else is fancying my interest at the time.

And so that's what I'll do now.

Say goodbye and move on to something else.

100 Things - Revised

Life changes. As a result, so have some of my 100 Things.

Breathe

I was reminded today of this haiku I wrote for Sebastien when I noticed that he hadn't posted in a while. I think it's fitting for me at this time as well.


sometimes it is good
to step away and breathe a bit
lest we lose our breath

I'm a Homeowner!

And that's all the energy I can muster up right now.

Cyberspace Annoyance

If you're gonna offer a service on your website for the purpose of making peoples' lives easier, simpler, more efficient...then please, PLEASE make it a website that WORKs! Because if it doesn't, it actually takes at least three times longer to accomplish the task.

Companies in the past week whose website functionality has failed me:

• Comcast.com - on two separate days and three separate occasions, the system failed to let me transfer my service to the new house. Resolution - good old fashioned customer service phone call.

• MovingMatrix.com - this site is supposed to provide you with quotes via email for various moving options. I have not received a single quote. Resolution - phone book.

• United States Postal Service.com - the little icon on the USPS.com homepage says, "Moving?", and I thought, "cool, this will be so easy! I don't have to drive to the post office." But after agreeing to the privacy statement on one page, then filling out my name on the next page, the following "Continue" button looped me back to the privacy statement page. I tried this several times before I felt like a tard and realized nothing else was gonna happen. I then tried to send an email notice to let them know it was broken. Guess what...that didn't work either. Resolution - I will drive to the post office on Monday.

Other than these minor disturbances life is good and I'm still packing.

Change

My life has changed a lot in the last four years. Some of the changes started four years ago, some three years ago, and some just within the last three months. Somehow it's as if each change was measured by an hourglass whose sand was timed perfectly so the last grain of each would fall through to the other side at the exact same moment.

The timeline looks something like this:

• Started attending a new church November 2002. For one reason or another, dragged my feet and just became a member of this church June 26, 2007.
• Separated after 10 years of marriage in June of 2004. Received the divorce decree on June 28, 2007.
• For the last fifteen years I thought owning a home was unattainable. Wrote in my list of 100 Things on March 18, 2007 that I've never owned a home. Decided I was going to take a leap of faith and go for it. Found just the right house in May. Settlement is July 13, 2007.

I know things happen for a reason and that everything lined up perfectly. I also know that God is sovereign and for reasons I may never understand, saw fit to drop those grains of sand through each hourglass at just the right time.

Martha's Vineyard

This past weekend I went to Martha's Vineyard for my sister's wedding. It was beautiful. She was breathtaking. And the setting was heavenly. I want to write so much more...but for now I leave some photos.
