I recently found this photo and decided to frame it. I've never displayed a picture of myself from childhood in my home. It does something deep inside each time I look at it. There is laughter, joy, and excitement in that face. I can nearly hear the coaxing of the photographer getting this little person to laugh and giggle for the shot.

I don't really remember her since I have almost no memories of my childhood before I was about five. But I like looking at her. Her brightness fills me with something that feels so alive. Like a promise of hope to come. And maybe even the possibility that for this little girl, those years weren't as bad as my mind has made them to be.

On a lighter note...

1. Is it a requirement that all little girls have bangs that form the outline of a frickin mountain range? (Cindra, totally thinking of you, babe!)

2. WHO? Tell me WHO put me in that ruffly thingy? All I need is a feather duster and the pic is complete!

It's criminal what parents make their children wear.

Great picture though. Love the expression.

Thank you for the comment and for the poem. I usually don't get poetry left on my posts, it was a pleasant surprise.

Sin is a very odd act. So tempting and so sweet is it that we risk everything for it. All for self gratification. We are weak and the flesh is weaker!

Yes, it seems the laugh/smile had to be coaxed. And it also seems it was happy to get out -- and it's all caught and recorded on photo.

In which room, and on what wall will you hang the picture?

What a delightful picture. You are filled with joy. Don't think much coaxing was needed. Children are vessels of happiness. We lose that along the way often holding on to our tears, losses and tragedies(?) Aah to experience that freedom of childhood glee once again!Childlike innocense with no expectations, smiles given freely, that only reflect the moment lived; no past, no future, just now that I am in. Love and joy in this moment!

mur - truly, it is. criminal that is.

josh - thanks for stopping by!

jake - ;-)

flic - film is a treasured thing. i don't think i fully appreciated the value of capturing life in photos until my grandmother passed. it's in my kitchen, atop the microwave (sitting, not hanging)...for now.

Nice picture. I just love the joy that children are capable off. I imagine that due to innocence and naivety.

So sweet of you to remember, darlin'. Not. Well, kinda. Those are some precious years. Before we figured out that not everyone is nice. GREAT pic. I love the expression. I hope you'll send me a current one too!
