The Coming Out
Each year 'round the very same hour
they grace my home with dainty power
and march along, strong as a tower,
looking for some food.
One by one they follow each other
orders given by Queen to all brothers
working hard to have their druthers
they pillage then move on.
A few drops of maple syrup left
they gather around and exert their deft
a sugary trail of tree sap theft
my counter now a mess.
Their pilgrimage is far from over
each surface of this place they'll cover
with raid can in my hand i'll hover
till arthropods are gone!

So funny! You always amaze me with your outlook, your humor! Well done!
I'm smiling, but the raid is in my hand as well. LOL
Hilarious! There was one in the house the other day...we knew that if there be one, another shall soon follow.
Marry me, you used the arthropod in a poem. Damn, that's talent.
katie - thanks so much. i appreciate the comment! somehow my outlook tends to be a little grey until i write a goofy poem :)
pauline - yes, i try not to use chemicals to kill things. but these buggers, they just won't quit! nice to know i'm not alone in the battle ;-)
arm - i like your new profile pic. beautimus eyes. of course there will be more...there's never just one :(
egan - i'm flattered. but mrs. L would be terribly distraught sitting home alone on her anniversary weekend.
You're right. Maybe in July then? We can ride bikes and stuff together. I like this idea.
egan - only if you promise to mow the lawn.
Aw, thanks! You're too kind.
My cat kind of maimed the one. It was acting all stupid, walking around in circles after she "pawed" it. I then started imagining what it must have been like for it...it's just walking along looking for some food to take back to the Queen and then all of the sudden it looks up and there is this huge, furry paw coming towards it multiple times. Oh the trauma.
And this is how my imagination works...
NO RAID!! Just remove all the food sources and they'll leave peacefully!
Hey, is anyone else getting a weird login prompt on blogger? I think my router is posessed.
I'd gladly mow the lawn, it's a hobby of mine.
i know, it is sad about the poor critters. but that image of your cats huge paw coming down on the bugs made me chuckle.
egan - it's a deal then. hey, i was just on arm's site and read something you said about your bike. did something happen to it?
grumble - no weird prompts here. mmm. wonder what's up.
yeah, i hate that i have to use chemicals sometimes. it's erally gross and unhealthy. but about the food sources, get this. the main places these buggers hang out?...my bathrooms. it's annoying. and no, we don't eat in the bathrooms.
