Falling Flat
I've sat down to write several times since my last post, but nothing comes. The phrase that repeats like a mantra in my mind is "falling flat". I think it's because I've been feeling like a deflated balloon or a squashed pancake lately.
I've now written three different paragraphs that would go right here, and then deleted each one.
All done.
After thought: a co-worker of mine often answers her work telephone like this, "psychic hotline!" [insert a tone of voice so sweet that it would instantly give you a cavity ].
First of all, this is so intolerably annoying to me that I literally grit my teeth when it occurs, and have even made faces at the shared wall between our two cubes. Secondly, so what if we have caller ID, how does one justify doing this in a professional corporate environment? Ok, perhaps it erks me more than it should. I'll think about that.

I have an annoying co-worker with really bad phone habits, too. But I wish she'd be funny with her greetings instead of being a major ass.
I will admit, I abuse my caller-id at times and if I recognize the number, I will answer the phone silly. But not everytime. Don't want to get on anyone's nerves.
arm - confined space in the workplace can be quite the challenge. i'm sorry yours is a jerk. ugh!
Don't get me wrong, I've answered my phone with a silly greeting too if i recognize who's calling, but I honestly try, really try, not to project my voice in a loud and distuptive way. I'm sure you're a great cube mate, arm ;-)
So So sorry friend. I am sure this happens quite often as I know she receives many many personal calls. Missed you today.
mmm I'd want to wear head phones! Don't suppose you'd hear your own phone that way though!
shoes - i'll be there in the a.m. :) thanks for the sympathy.
katie - i do listen to music at times, but i'm the type who just likes it quiet a lot. i'm sort of in a pickle i suppose!
Oh, boy. There is one in every office. Try to let it roll off your back...or out the other ear...or something. Sheesh.
xo
co-workers...perhaps we could write a book(?) If we gave them an opportunity to write, what would they say about each of us(?) I have people that make my work feel more like torture(?)I long to return home and be in my comfort zone! Each person is surposed to teach us something...maybe I am refusing to learn and shut them out.Did you think of ansering your phone (have a friend call)in a loud voice to get this persons reaction(?)Sorry to say but I am learning that the inappropriate people keep their jobs and we conservatives are pushed away. can't explain it but it becomes more true each day...Sorry this was a rather deflated comment with good intensions. Talk about a flat pancake.... :) Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow etc.
I like to answer my work phone in French or by saying "brothers helping brothers, Seattle branch".
I'm sure things are still a bit out of whack for you. Annoying co-workers are a problem. I'd blog about them more, but I value my paycheck.
I do not listen to music, nor keep the TV on simply because I prefer the quiet. I used to wear head phones just so people could not talk to me .. nor could I hear them that well... lol...
So far I like all my co-workers well enough. The second j.o.b. is easier because it is English speaking...
See, what your coworker does would be funny, once. All day? Shoot me in the head. Reminds me of some movie with that annoying secretary, is it Office Space?...
Hey, you should go on a bike ride if the weather permits! Biking is a cure-all!
all - for some reason i though i responded to all you guys. guess i didn't :( so sorry.
thanks for your empathy and comments!
