Missing You
i am feeling sad today.
i miss my friend.
a year ago i was stepping out of an airport express shuttle to greet my little ones after more than a week apart. i experienced europe for the first time that week. even better, i experienced a connection with a dear friend. a connection that spans the breadth of land and sea and time and culture and cuts to the core of two people who get each other. a connection that has waxed and wained with life changes and circumstances over eleven years, but always comes back to the "get each other" part.
i think the depth of the connection -- after not seeing each other for ten years -- surprised us both. it was so comfortable, so easy. so comfortable that the first night i went to sleep at 10:00 pm and didn't wake up until 4:00 pm the NEXT day! when i finally stumbled from my jet-lagged womb she looked at me and in her adorable german-accented english said, "B, i sought you had died in zare!" Needless to say her three-year old daughter who was eager to become my new playmate was not happy about my lengthy slumber in the least.
every minute was just perfect.
we laughed and talked and ate and laughed some more. we played and relaxed and made time for afternoon siestas -- a nap followed by cafe au lait and delightful treats. treats like swiss pear cake, croissants, and melt in your mouth schokolade!
she took me to places with deep history and beauty. beauty that was almost painful at times. cities with architecture that wore the richness of their stories. countryside and mountains that cried out.
she shared her culture, her land, her home, her family. she shared her life. i wish i could capture the time we spent together in a bottle and uncork it to breathe in all that we shared in those cherished few days.
just once it awhile.

Glad you liked it and thanks for letting me know. Yes, I saw your photos -- beautiful. Your site inspired me to create a new blog with my own work: poetrty, photos, etc.
You may also want to check out the following photo blogs. A lot of it is wedding related, but amazing nevertheless.
