The Headache

"Rise and shine", the headache says,
"time to start your day."

"Bugger off", I shoot right back,
"get the fuck away."

He doesn't listen. The conversation ends and I take two Excederin Migraine and a cup of coffee.

Happy Friday.

Damn, I hope the migraine goes away. There's not much worse than those puppies. Your remedy should work just fine. I used to get them 2-3 times a year before getting glasses.

egan - thank you kindly sir. yeah, they are terrible. i can usually catch them with that rememdy. it's the "stay in bed all day and throw up" kind that just don't quit. glad you figured out how to get rid of yours!

jake - thanks friend. the boys are with their dad this weekend, so some time alone without the constant banter has helped mend the headache.

Yeah, for me I tackle a migraine with heaps of caffeine, sugar, water, and some sleep. I first notice mine coming on when I lose my peripheral vision.

I can't wait to hear more about your first time on the bike outside the house.

eggs - (nice new nick name, eh? though please tell me if this one has left a childhood scar on you and i will cease using it immediately :)

sugar huh? never would have guessed that one would worked. i too get auras and visual disturbances. the worst thing is that now L (9 year-old little man) gets them. I feel so powerless when he has one and i know the pain.

yes, the ride was freeing. i don't have the gear i need yet to fix a flat so i didn't go far. did almost 5 miles in 20 minutes. with windy tears streaming dowm my face and a lip-dried smile, i sucked in the wind and beauty of the day. returned home cheeks flushed and rejuvenated. nothing like it!

Ha, I've heard all the nicknames. Eggs or Egs is fairly common.

You have presta valves on those tires? I bought a new tube for my triathlon bike. The valve stem is too short and is a real pain to inflate.

I love the bit about the tears on your face. That shows true character. I'm so excited for you.

Headaches are a constant part of my life (it's the huge brain), so I have all the empathy in the world for you.

Hey, my verification is agskukas. Almost a palindrome!

Hope you're having a better day, bumblebee!

egan - thanks for being exited for me. It's fun to know someone who gets it :) and dude - i'm so unorginal on the eggs thing! i'll have to come up with something better.

my valves are stock -- what they are exactly i'll have to check. can you exchange the tube?

oh, the tears. even with glasses on ;-)

murray - thank you for the kind thoughts. headaches just bite. i'm sorry they infringe upon your life on a regular basis.

cool word verif.

It's just such a liberating experience to be on a bike. You can cover a fair amount of miles, get fit, and breath the fresh air. Nothing can compare in my book. I remember feeling the same way when I was six or seven years old. The freedom a bike offers is fantastic.

I would bet they're presta valves then. It's either presta or schrader.

funny you should mention feeling that way at 6 or 7. i moved into a new neighborhood at 6, still not knowing how to ride a two wheeler. soon befriended by the 6 year-old girl across the street, to my horror i learned that she rode her baby blue banana seat bike with perfection. i was determined to learn. (though she rode me double seated and on her handle bars for those long few months! what a good friend :)

Oh the good old days of banana seats on bikes. I remember my bike we'd "ghost ride" down the local hills. On the memories.

eagers - what's a ghost ride?
