Conversation with a Six Year-Old

It was bedtime one night last week and I was prodding my little "I" to brush his teeth. This is a challenge most nights. He broke the frustration with this:

I - Mom, I want braces.

Me - Why do you want braces, bud?

I - If I had red hair and glasses, then I'd want braces.

Kids are just hysterical. I don't think we got his teeth brushed that night.

He needs a Dora toothbrush.

Those first few years can be the most entertaining and the best of memory makers! Did you wonder who may have been the little boy with red hair and glasses who wore or needed braces? I always love to listen to the story untold. So very relieved for you about the CT results. hug enclosed!

I don't get it, but I'm giggling just the same. Kids crack me up.

egan - we've tried 'em all. right now we're on spiderman. he wouldn't go for a "girly" toothbrush at this point.

pauline - i did wonder where he came up with that. most likely a character from somewhere. thanks for the kind thoughts about the headaches ;-)

katie - sometimes i wish i could just look inside their mind to see what they're thinking. it's amazing!

arm - yeah, i didn't get it either, which is part of what made it so hysterical. i was like, what?

Spin brushes enjoyed a big surge of success here. But mostly I've just scared the crap out of mine about cavities. ^_^

I love the things kids say sometimes. I wish I would remember to write them down somewhere.

Why the red hair and glasses? Does he know someone that looks like that? So cute!

I like things that spin in your hand too.

Good for Me, you're a great mommy.

He wants braces, red hair, and glasses. I had all three at different times-still have some red hair...man, kids are awesome

seb - yes, such freedom!

candace - we've tried the spin brushes before, maybe time to give them another try. and the scaring bit...one word...boys.

and i asked him about where his idea came from and he said he didn't know. funny.

egan - um, ok, on the spinning in the hand comment. and as far as being a great mommy, that is very kind. i still could use super nanny's help bigtime!

clockworkchris - hey! welcome back! so i guess you can relate to him, then :) thanks for visiting!
