The Nerve
how come every time I go to a salon – which isn't often – inevitably, this is what I am asked...
"Do you want your eyebrows waxed?"
the point to make here is that i'm not there to get my eyebrows waxed. i usually go for a manicure or pedicure. a once in a while treat to myself.
on monday, when i went in for a manicure, these were the exact words posed to me...
"Do eyebrows?"
i have thick, dark, russian jew-girl eyebrows.
i like them that way, darn it!
i don't want them to look like this. and besides, does that even LOOK like fun?

HA! Same. I am a nordic girl with brown eyebrows and i have never been too fru fru...so I am always asked same!
Oh my friend. We have laughed about this before. You are a beauty, eyebrows and all. I just hope one day I'm with you for it. I have the PERFECT comment. No telling til then. XOXOXO
Cin, funny thing is that i learned to say no to this the hard way...after having them waxed almost all the way off. i think with "waxers", they know no in between. it's either "pencil thin pointers" or overgrown unibrow. i let them grow in and am happy with my thick, and sometimes caterpillar-like, eyebrows. so glad you can relate!
Tiger - dude, i cannot WAIT for this one. when can we go, when can we go?
oi vey!
okay, girls, I'm going too.
Yay! Yay!
That's pretty funny, because I have just (over the last week or so) been thinking "maybe I should start plucking." ^_^ I have Brooke Shields eyebrows. At least, the way she used to be known for them. I just haven't ever thought to do anything about it. :-P
candace - my mother once said to me, "never start plucking", of course i didn't listen to her.
i pluck...it's a never ending battle when you're a dark, thick-haired russian blooded girl.
though my post makes it sound like i'm against waxing, really i'm not. i just don't care for nail salon employees infringing on my personage by assuming i don't want my eyebrows to be thick.
brook shields is the EXACT description i would use for mine.
