Boys and Their Balls
No, no you perves. Not THOSE balls!
My son's basketball tournament was Saturday. He's really good. And he's a little wild. Wild sometimes equates to, "I will run, dribble, shoot, pass, and breathe as fast and furiously as I possibly can without looking or listening to teammates or coach for instruction for even one millisecond." This is often to his demise as he ends up missing shots and traveling when he's all worked up. But on the other hand, he can sometimes harness his talent and make 3-pointers like it's nothing.
Either way, he expresses great joy when he makes that ball swoosh. And whether wild or well-tamed, I'm proud.

Aw, what cute pictures. I assume he's the one with the shaggy hair. That look is totally in right now with the younger folks. What a proud mum.
I may have been as hyper as your child when I was young. I would bet I could give him a run for his money.
Aww! I can so identify with him! When you get caught up in the moment sometimes...well, you let instinct take over! :)
boy you guys are fast!
cervelo - yes sirree, he's the shaggy one. i just cut his bangs after watching him peer through them for a few weeks. the secretary at his school told me one day that she almost cut them herself. we laughed. then i went home and cut them!
both you and jake referred to having this same energy. must be a boy thing. and i'm sure you can give him a run for his money. after all, you did move your body 140 miles in what? 11 hours?
jake! ya know, that really makes sense. i think he just gets so psyched about it, and so into it, that he just tunes everything out and goes into autopilot! does E like sports?
140.6 miles in 12.5 hours, but who's counting right?
My bangs never got that long with curly hair. It's pretty much impossible to have bangs with my fro. I love blogging so naturally I hover on yours. Now I have to find pictures of Peanut.
Maybe your son can teach me how to shoot the ball with one hand and not two. Two handed set shots are very passé.
you have every right to count each second of that journey!
bangs. i think that's such a funny word. do you have a pic of your fro?
ya know, i think he's a two-hander. will have to check on that one.
This one doesn't quite do it justice. Let me scan something. I have to post the weird pint glass grab anyways.
cervelo -
1. that doesn't even look like the other pics of you on your blog.
2. does that qualify for a fro? perhaps by the sheer fact that your brush is stuck upright in it?
3. "badmug". excellent pic name.
Yes, it's wrong on many ways. It was about six months later that I got into triathlons. It was time to change my appearance. Yes, that's not a flattering shot, but it does show where I came from.
Someone once told me I look different all the time. I blame the curls for that. When my hair is short, not many curls. When it's longer, I have many curls. Good times.
The first photo is really great.
Enjoy the energy of your son's youth. It is a wonderful thing to observe; it is even more amazing to attempt to keep up with them. Relish every moment "proud mom."
Wow! Lots of energy! And hair! :)
Jazz used to play when she was young.
It's amazing how much energy they have! I like seeing your sports shots...they are fun! Hugs to you, Bee.
cervelo - looks like triathalons of done you good. but yes, we can never forget where we've come from. unless you've gone a bit in reverse like me, and then the remembering brings some hope. and altering looks can be fun (i love curly hair!). my hair is wavy when i don't blow dry and can be straight with a laborsome 10 minutes with the hair dryer. it's fun to change the hair to fit the mood.
jesse crocket - thanks for coming by! i thought that pic was great too. off the ground, ball released...pretty neat.
pauline - not having had brothers (i have one step brother but he was pretty low key) sometimes the boy energy is surprising to me. i better get used to it though. i have two of them!
katie - oh, the hair! yep. he's been growing it and growing it. i like it on him, but miss seeing his big blue eyes! that's great that jazz played.
cin - i know! and that day, after 5 games of basketball (10 minutes each), he came home and played with friends outside, and then we went to another friends home and he played b-ball again for an hour. sheesh! i'd be in a comma if that were me. hugs right back atya!
Haha, that's so fun, I love the pictures. Great that your son gets so excited, haha, I love basketball too, I'm more of a passing point guard myself, but hey, every basketball team needs good shooters!!!
seb - basketball is a great sport. hey, every positions needed. that's the main thing young players need to learn i think -- having the ball isn't the whole game. and that's whether it's basketball, soccer, football, etc. learning to be a team is so important.
